Hello everyone, and thank you for coming by to see me!
Do you have a minute? Because that's pretty much all it takes to tour my craft room. lol!
As a military spouse, I've learned that in order to have your own space, you need to create your own space. When we moved from Virginia, I said goodbye to a huge three level home, including a second dining room-turned-craft room, and hello to a smaller 5 bedroom home in beautiful South Carolina.

After setting up all the bedrooms, I realized that I needed to find a spot just for me. After throwing out some ideas of a corner in the family room (um, no thank you - I'm a messy crafter), a nook in the kitchen (you know, because I spend my entire day in there anyway), I decided on an under the stairs closet storage. My sister and I have lovingly dubbed it my "Croset" (Craft Closet).

Not only did this space keep me in the mix of all the activities on the main floor, but it had a door, and it was otherwise going to be used to store unnecessary stuff. And so I claimed it as mine and went to work. Welcome to my Croset.

Here's the door, right off the foyer (notice the empty shoe slots in my bench? They're all in school for their last week!). This space is literally in the center of the home, which I love:

First I removed some of the free standing shelves that the previous tenants used for storing her larger appliances. Then I got started. I have two Martha Stewart organizers so I mounted one, then flipped the other one upside down and slid it right underneath:

,

I grabbed some of my hoarded stored Thirty-One products for storage. The big one below (nestled in a bookshelf turned on its side) holds my Cuttlebug and Grand Calibur, the side pockets hold all the plates, and larger dies. My hanging organizer is squeaky clean, because school is almost out - woohoo! Usually there's scheduled activities, sticky notes, and plastered reminders all over it. :) The four pockets below hold labels, sheets and sheets and sheets of printed digital images, ready for me to color up.

I scored a neat IKEA chair from a yard sale, which fits perfectly under my "table" - an IKEA shelf found in the As Is section for $2. Yay! It fits just right in my little space, which measure just a wee bit over a yard. A spice holder has been turned into my smaller embellishment station, and a Pampered Chef kitchen caddy is now home to my small collection of copics:

For additional storage, I keep ribbon in recycled containers that were originally intended for Beanie Baby displays. How funny, right?  A friend gave me a ton of them! I found the chalkboard labels at Michaels, and I am also a little obsessed with their round pens. The four buckets hold about forty of my collection.

And there you have it! My little 3'x5' space keeps me happy and creative, everything that I need is within a swivel of my chair. If you're wondering where all of my other stuff is, there's a full wardrobe closet in the garage that I've actually forgotten about (I think a craft yard sale is in my future).

Have a great day everyone, if you're ever in the area, stop by to see me! You can even come over and craft... although only one person at a time fits in my Croset. teehee!

Happy Friday Everyone!  Nance here!  Today I'm sharing with you the place I spend about 75% of my time when I'm home --- my craft room.  I'm fortunate to have an entire room to call MINE for crafting, blogging, sewing, etc.  It's actually my second craft room here.  I had one in our basement but it got way too cold in the winter.  So, once our oldest got married, I finally talked my hubs into repainting Patrick's room and making it my creative space.  The top walls before were sponged animal pattern for my son.  However, as I have lived in a house full of testosterone, I had to claim some girl power finally, so I repainted pink and white leaving the bottom brown and notice, even the fan is pink!  It's a pretty big room with lots of stuff in it!  There are perks to being an empty nest! lol

Some of the highlights of my room ---- In the center you notice a big island.  I confiscated that from my hubs' work room aka "man cave", lol!  I wanted to have it painted for this post, but with being out of town for a month before, it didn't happen.  That is where I do most of my creating and I can see out either window as I do.

Just this winter I found that fabulous big four door cabinet at the Habitat Restore for only $50!  The Hubs helped me sand and paint it.  It holds ALOT --- all of my different kinds of paints --- acrylics, oils, watercolors, markers, almost every craft supply I own practically fits into those three deep shelves!
Above the cabinet I have my Big Shot, dies, stencils, markers, inks. That little shelf on the right side with my markers on it is another confiscated item from the "man cave"!  And then I personalized the wall with some pics of my boys at diff stages, photo of my family with my folks and some special mementos. To the left of the cabinet are craft cubes with more various supplies tucked away and to the right is a pegboard my Hubs built and hung so I could have more items readily available when I need them.  And on the back of the door is a shoe organizer where I keep my punches.

My sewing machine and laptop sit upon the little craft desk in front of one window. Usually, it also holds a cat curled up near the laptop! Next to the desk is a bookshelf from my childhood and made by my uncle. I keep my craft mags and some photo albums there along jars of ribbons and then yes, the stuffed animals -- gifts from my guys.

On the wall next to the bookshelf I have a cube organizer with all my 8-1/2x11 papers stored underneath a bulletin board I recovered.  I also hung some fishing wire about the bulletin board to display currently finished cards. Above the fishing wire are some fave photos I have taken in various spots of NC. Next to the paper shelf is a toy bench, made by same mentioned uncle.  It was my childhood toybox.  I have refinished it and it holds ALOT of fabric!  It also usually contains a cat or border collie or both upon the seat most days!  LOL

My hubs also built me that wonderful wooden stamp shelf that takes up the entire wall by the closet.  That has to be one of my favorite things about my room!  Under it is an old dresser that holds 2 baskets of stamps (still organizing those), my printer.  The drawers contain ribbon, stickers, emboss powders, small paper pads.

My closet rounds out the room.  On the doors I've started using some adhesive magnetic squares to store some of my dies.  That will be continued to be done at a later date. The Hubs built ceiling to floor shelves for me and most of the closet contains photos, paper keepsakes, frames, scrapbooks, etc.  One day it may all be nice and organized in like containers and colors.

The Pink Elephant - Creative Spaces

Welcome back to another special Behind the Scenes post where Ella's Girls are sharing their Creative Spaces with you!  If you've missed any of the previous posts, you can find them {here}.

Our next stop is with Lori Turner.

______________________________________________

Hello everyone! Lori here, sharing a quick peek at my craft space! I have had the last two months off from crafting as I was working at our local accounting firm preparing income taxes and let me tell ya - I had to do a MAJOR overhaul of my room before I even *dreamed* of taking any pics! LOL....

I also have one whole room for crafting in - but it's also my business office too. One side is designated crafty area and one side is our business office. Works pretty good! So first off, I have all my Stampin' Up! inks/markers/re-inkers stored in a wonderful wall unit that my Dad builds....he's a genius! And I also store buttons in jars on top of it.  Under my printer area is where I store all of my 8 1/2" x 11" cardstock - both drawers are labelled with Stampin' Up! color file folders.

Then there is my computer/copics/washi tape area  I also have a white 5-drawer unit I purchased from IKEA under my desk that holds adhesives, acrylic blocks/distress inks, heat gun, baby wipes, embossing powders, glue gun, and bottom drawer is my camera and other electronics.

Then, to the right of my desk is my stamp storage cupboards (all Stampin' Up! stamps and boxes of cards are stored in the upper IKEA cabinets) along with some other miscellaneous things (copic refills/etc.) In the lower IKEA shelf there are my wonderfully organized clear stamps (Jennifer McGuire style), my ribbon, embossing folders/dies (Jennifer McGuire style), other embossing/dies from Stampin' Up and in the baskets below, I store my felt, flowers, card kits and extra paper cutters.

My closet is sort of a "catch-all" for various things. I store extra yarn in there, the wonderful white cabinet is actually a storage unit for 12 x 12 papers made by my wonderful friend, Brian Elliott (Leanne's hubby!) On the shelves I store my idea books, other crafts I want to do and the top shelf is all my scrapbooking paraphernalia. LOL

The tall 9-drawer unit is also from IKEA and that's where I store all my punches. I absolutely LOVE this drawer unit!! The top 2 drawers I have sequins and other embellies!

Well...there ya have it folks! This is where I get crafty. I am still in the process of decorating and I would love to put some cabinets up (or shelves) directly above my computer monitor. So...still a work in progress!!  Thanks for stopping in!! xoxoxo

Make sure to join us next Friday for a peek into Nance Salkeld's craft space!
